Online Safety Forum
Last night four St Paul’s students attended the Courier Mail’s Generation Sext: Forum, discussing the risks and challenges children face online.
More than 100 people from schools and organisations across the state gathered to discuss some hard truths about digitisation and the dangers of sexting among young people.
Teenagers were given the opportunity to quiz a panel of experts — moderated by journalist Frances Whiting — on everything from pornography and predatory behaviour, to technology and education.
One of our students in attendance, Julia Munt (Year 10), asked the panel how students can help and support their friends if they are thinking about participating in inappropriate online behaviour.
Taskforce Argos Detective Inspector, Jon Rouse, answered by saying “if you see this material on social media make sure it’s closed down and educate yourself on the ramifications of that action.”
